The Marathon Aqua Ranch and Science Center is quasi-open and I was there today for a short see what's going on visit.
Cool place enclosed saltwater aquifer pond ( good size lake) going to become a breeding and seafood restaurant and wholesale place, but they do have pay for fish feedings and catch and release fishing for BIG COBIA and some very respectable Snapper and other fish
they offer fun boats ( little Mickey Mouse looking things) for rent and snorkeling with the fish while they are fed and stuff
good place to take a kid for some guaranteed action and learning experience...
you can google the ranch and read the Newspaper ( keynoter ) article also it's at about
MM 60 and
the Dolphin Research Center is down near MM 58.5.... great back to back things to do the DRC is Swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Research Center Marathon FL, Dolphin and Sea Lion Research (http://www.dolphins.org)
