I'm going to Tierra Del Fuego in mid-march to fish for giant sea-run brown trout. I've been told you can get 2 to 3 cast with a spey rod for every 1 cast with a single handed rod. Sooooo to maximize my fishing time I want to learn to spey cast. Anyone know anybody who gives lessons?

Thanks,

Buy some videos and watch, watch and watch some more. Read some books and such too.

Or contact Ken Tidy and Dianne from the board. I think they do some lessons and know how to use a double handed rod well.

Just think of it as a giant roll cast where you have to load the road and then let it rip. The stronger you are has nothing to do with it, it's all in how you load the rod. I'm no expert by any means and I usually only spey fish once or twice a year for the past 6 or so. I have to teach myself all over again every trip. It's not like riding a bike, or at least not yet.

Phil Krista used to teach spey casting. As far as I know he is still in Ellicott City.
