Thanks for the Ethel Merman update! She stopped singing long ago due to unforseen circumstances.

I'll be hitting the PAX this week and will report for those that are still in the game. :D

I was going to brave the wind and waves today but when I woke up at 5:00AM this morning the wind was shaking the house and I was just too tired and hung over after staying up to watch the Sox kick the Rockies butts again:clap: .

I just put the line back in the freezer so I'm looking at possibly going Tuesday, either the Wye or lower Pax. I'm calling this my last trip but last year I think I had 3 "last trips"...

The fat lady is still singing for me. It sounds like she may be singing to me personally though.
Crabbed the Wye Saturday right after the rain subsided, just luck on our part. Crabbed from 1:30 to 5:00 and ended up with bushel and a half.
Talked to several boats that stopped by as we were crabbing and most guys said they didn't even catch one keeper.
We're going to play this hand every Saturday until we get skunked.
Maybe our late departures are paying off for us.
Good luck everyone.

I talked to a commerical crabbing friend who crabs the Choptank yesterday. He said he stopped last week because cutting grass was making him more money, but he said he was still getting a bushel and a half per trip.

Crabberlig, thank you very much, I'm headed down there tomorrow to give it a shot. Any hints on depth or what kind of structure you found them on? I'm planning to stay out near the mouth on the edge of deep water and move around until I find them. I'm planning to launch in the Narrows and run across EB so I can hopefuly I can get in a little top water action the morning and afternoon.

You guys drive me nuts. I'm in Chicago this week and will be home on Friday. If the winds and luck is with me I would also like to give the Pax one more try before putting the motor and boat to bed for another winter.

Jerry, If I go you know where I'll be:D

Waterboy,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm still getting them about a quarter mile in from the mouth on the bridge side just past Shaw Bay. Still haven't had to go excessively deep, 10' to 12' has been working fine. I would stay inside the river and I think your idea on staying on the edge of the channels is a GOOD ONE hint-hint.
Good luck and let me know how you make out.

Well, I guess I needed to hear her for myself.... I launched in the Narrows yesterday at about 8:00AM and had a refreshing run across a flat calm eastern bay, air temp was about 45, water temp was about 61 and 63 was the warmest I saw all day. I started in the Wye out by the mouth, moved my line about 4 times covering depths from 10' to 35'. By 1:00 I only had 8 crabs so I packed it all up and ran over to a place in Crab Alley where I had done well late in the season before. Should have stayed where I was for the tide change, I saw a more crabs in CA, 2 or 3 per run, but most were dropping off way early, I picked up a few more in the traps before I packed it all up and hit the road. The way the water is cooling I'd say that's about it for EB and the area. In hind sight I should have worked my traps harder, should have added more line to my traps ahead of time, should have run to the lower Pax...

Beautiful day out there, caught about 50 dink rock under birds at the mouth of the Wye, EB was quiet.

Chasing chickens in EB is fun with LT!

And, there is chances for bigger fish still to come.
