Not sure if anyone has seen this yet but found this AP news story about the crabbing getting better in Crisfield. I quess the crabs are heading further south - it was dated Fri 26 Oct 07.
CRISFIELD, Md. (AP_ Waterman in Crisfield, Maryland say the past week's crabbing has been the best they've seen this season. Some crabbers believe the cooler weather has caused the apparent increase in crabs in the area waters.

Still haven't seen it. Not surprising since crabbing was poor in that area this summer. Do they metion if they are catching more males or females. They normally see a migration of females in the fall.

Today on WBAL there was a few seconds of Larry Simms saying the crabbing was picking up. Didn't hear where though. John

Yes the crabs are picking up down the bay now that the temps are dropping, and the salt line is headed down.
No I wont try to argue your posts they are clearly there to piss someone off and get a bad post. If they were there for a good reason or something I would offer my opion.

About 30 years ago I used to feel the exact same way. As time went on and I got a little older and actually started paying attention to what was happening, I realized that I didn't know it all back then like I thought. I've never personally met Larry Simms. I've been in the same room once or twice (at the O.C. Watermen's Show) and I read his column in the Watermen's Gazette (which I receive because I purchase a raffle ticket on their pick-up truck raffle). I think I can safely say this - Larry Simms seems to stay on a pretty even keel trying to balance the arguments between the watermen, the politicians, the DNR and the recreational community. He has earned a lot of respect in the General Assembly, puts in a lot of hours on behalf of the MWA and still works his regular job. I've never heard him say that we need to shut out one group to benefit some other group, he is more about compromising to allow everyone an equal chance to participate in the fisheries. I give the man credit for doing his job this well for so many years. If all sides of the arguments took the same road, we would all be better off.

Mikie I agree:thumbup:
I've had dealings with Larry Simms several times and I have nothing but respect for him. He's called me back a few times from his cell phone and pulled over to help me sort out some things on the spot. I have nothing bad to say about that man.
