If the weather is okay, we are going to try ShipYard one last time. We have enough bait for one more trip. Looking to crabs in 8 to 15 feet of water. Has anyone been on the Chester this week. The water temp seems to be holding. The crabs last week did not taste muddy or gritty like they usually start to this time of the year.
I'm also going one last time ( this weekend?) . I launch @ Shipyard and I head straight out , then make left , then a right then drop them in the middle from 12 to 18 ft.
Last year we crushed them in that area all 7 to 9 inch crabs so black they were purple. I think the reason its been slow this week is the tide table has been weak. Take a look not much water change from high to low. Full moon this weekend it should be real good.

I think we are going to have to move around from deep to shallow to figure out where they are. We've been crabbing in site of the FireTower. I am with you on the crabs, they are usually big and fat this time of year.

went to shipyard on mon 22nd. to debait the trotlines. Started at 11am..Caught 3, 1 a run and decided to pull and debait. The seagulls are sure happy for the free meal.. Caught them in 12'. A really nice gentleman and crew graciously donated 7 crabs to our cause...(Thank you!) Said he was out since daybreak.. laid right down the middle. started from the island and then worked his way back to the ramp..Pulled up the boat, got some lunch and headed to Bogles..caught 3 more in by the clam lines. Lot's of bait fish all over!
Going to try it again this weekend, but going deep with traps...By the way, the crabs big and fat, tasted delicious!!!

Good luck this weekend... I hope you find some... This year has been pretty good... We've always come back with enough to eat and feed the family... We have some nice crab cakes in the freezer for the cold winter months....

I plan to be on the Miles Sat and Sun looking for Big Black Dick and Rusty Bottom.
30 ctpx in varying depths until I find where they are and concentrate there. Will fish for perch and stripers too.
Sat's wx doesnt look real good but the wind, for now, isnt forcasted to be real bad.
I am not sure about the crabs and where they we be. The wx just turned cool this week.
Good luck to all!;-)

All the commercial guys I know are using Razor clams as bait. When the water is cooler in the early and late seasons that is what they use and they are doing fine in the Chester.
