Looking for info on Rainbow Bend Fishing Resort.Wanted to come down aroud Christmas and take my boys fishing.Heard Capt. Pips was good but it is full.Like the idea of a boat available for use.Probably coming down for 5-6 days.Looking to hire a charter one or two days and fish on our own a couple days.thanks for any suggestions/input.
We were in Marathon lat February. While we were there we ran by Rainbow Bend to check it out for the future and go a look at the "boats." I wouldn't go there. We rented a boat for three days at Captain Hook's. It was a 22' CC and we had a ball in it. Very reasonable price and the boat was clean and everythig worked great. The guys there were great to work with and gave us great fishing reports and information.

never having been to Rainbows Bend ( I live a short distance away) I went in today to look at the place...I looked at several rooms and the property...the rooms were Clean and spacious and very comfortable, the boats while not new are very serviceable Boston Whalers (15ft it looks like) property was clean and well maintained and the staff pleasant with several kids on board you could always rent a larger boat or take the local head boat The Marathon Lady out for a half day if you wanted to fish the reef, check the other posts here and see what other fishing areas are available...hope this helps

I stayed there once and had a great time. Room was great. Restaurant was good. More importantly, I smoked the Barracudas throwing tubes in the shallows from the pissant sized Boston Whaler. I thought it was great.

I liked the place but don't build up your expectations. Places in the Keys are nice but not to the standards of luxury you find elsewhere. That said, it's a fisherman's paradise, inshore, offshore and I've never had a bad day. Go down to Whale Harbor Marina one afternoon, around 4 p,m. watch the boats coming back in, get a drink in the upstairs open bar and hook a trip out the next day with one of the captains. You won't be sorry. Florida Keys Fishing charters boats whale harbor marina Islamorada Florida Keys (http://www.whaleharbor.com/florida-keys-charter-boats.htm) Best captain there is Don Clark on the Sea Horse and his first mate is a great guy, professional fly-guide fm. Colorado. Don will put you onto anything and everything. Then you can have some of it cooked fresh any way you like it in the open air upstairs restaurant.
