I am a pro hunter, gun owner,I have a young son, and have also been teaching him the ins and outs of hunting... ( i.e. I am not an anti hunting peta, tree hugging type)
However, this just seems a little disturbing to me... the kid definitely has guts to get up after being thrown form the kick of the shot gun, but .... am I alone on this?

Slacktide,
Your not alone. That is too much gun for that child and somewhat disappointing to see.

I agree. Also - hard to tell from the video - but that looked like a pump or an autoloader.
Dangerous situation with an auto.
Not much fun doing that, ever heard the expression... An apple does not fall far from the tree. What do you do for fun racn35... sit around and hit yourself in the head with a 2X4?

I wasn't going to post, but was certain that the negative comments would eventually come out. Got to love to see youngn's out there hunting, but that certainly looked like a dangerous situation to me as well. As experienced hunters, it should be our primary goal to teach ethical and safe hunting practices to the younger and less experienced generation. It's crap like that that gives hunters a bad name. Kid should be shooting something like a 410 to start with. Do what you will, but I suggest not making your kid something to show off and start teaching him how to properly handle a gun!! This sort of teaching perpetuates further generations of unethical and unsafe hunters!! A gun is not something to fool around with. As for me, I've got to get some sleep. There is a deer with my name on it tomorrow morning

One tough kid! But I do have to side with, maybe a gun with a little less kick. They even have special shells now that have less kick. By next year he will be just right for dove hunting. HAVE FUN!

That's great. I don't care who you are. He can take a licking from that shotgun!

I started mine with a single shot 410....he didn't kill alot but sure did have fun shooting.
He then graduated to a single shot 20 and now a pump 12. Wish I had the land to still hunt on but as everything getting harder and harder to come by.

There is a safety issue but atleast he's pointing and shooting at something other than a HUMAN like most youngsters are now. So in that respect he's learning the positive;now daddy needs to invest in a 410 or a single shot 20. And yes that is one tough little dude!
