Spent a week up in Maine fishing the Mousam and the stripers were biting (early morning, outgoing). Unfortunately on my largest striper of the day (27") my TFO 10 weight snapped into three pieces! I didn't do anything out of the ordinary and while the current in the Mousam is strong, the rod wasn't bent over backwards or anything. As the fish was getting close so that I could grab the line, it gave one last fight and I guess turned perpendicular to the current and SNAP! All the other guys heard it down the bank and looked at me as I hand retrieved the fish and was left of my rod.
Time to contact TFO as I don't believe a 10 weight should snap like that. Went out and bought a St. Croix 9 weight as I badly needed something for the following morning. We'll see what TFO says about it.
