I'd like to try and catch one of these rascals so I'm looking for some advice. I have a downrigger on my boat and I was wondering about at what depth to start trolling with it. Say we are going to troll by a floating pallet in 20 fathom, at what depth would be a good place to start with the downrigger. Also, what size wire do you primarily use for a leader? Do most prefer to troll say a drone spoon or just a regular red/black seawitch? Any help would be appreciated and thnaks in advance.............

See this thread. Page 3
Id say 40 ft would be good.

Find the thermacline on your scope. Work your baits from 5 - 10 fathoms above the thermacline all the way up to the surface. 3' #105 WIRE leaders, blues & blacks, reds & blacks, purple & blacks. Drones do in fact work well.
