Here We Go got her first offshore SKUNK today!

Thanks to Chad, Steve and my son Jason for enduring a non eventful day. It was good networking with Reel Nice, Fins, C-Note, Fish Tales and Roll Tide.

We fished the 850/200 area all day and it had the most beautiful sargasm islands as you would ever want to see!

We worked them over hard, went deep then came back in and the radio had various reports of whites being caught. We had two knockdowns all day and both were on the shot gun, one on a pink bird chain the other on an express. Both leaders were chaffed from a bill.

We ran a 10 line spread with teasers all day, Chad worked his azz off and had it looking good:thumbup:

The most amazing thing was right at the end a few tunas started airing out in front of the boat as we came port side I watched one come 4' out of the water and nail a flier. We drug the short and long over them with in seconds of the event and then pounded the area>>>NADA!

It just wasn't our day the spead was perfect all day with dinks on the flats, shower chains behind with medium hoos, sailures on both the short and long riggers w/ medium and select hoos. and the shot gun bird chain to start express later in the day.

I would have never believed w/ what we were working we'd come up empty handed.

The bills and a few scattered tunas are out there..... just dam hard pickings. Sounds like you gave 'em a good shot......

I HATE AUGUST! they ought to call it "dead days", not dog days.

You'll get 'em next time. Thanks for the report!

We were right there with you. And the ride was nice on the way back in. The cleaning table wasn't crowded. The fish box was easy to clean. But I'm fried too.

Keith, Chad and crew,
Sorry to hear of your "fish and not catching" day. Least you didnt have to spend 24 hours out there with only 4 fish to show for it!!

Keith

It was great seeing you again at Owl Creek. We also ran a darn good 10 rod Spread. I had my buddy George setting up the spread, and we were trying out stuff for the VBSF.net Blue water Classic in 2 weeks.

We had similar luck, but at least we saw the white in our spread, I was real excited for about 5 min. We just put out a Get Reel Blue and White Mini Bar and the white nailed it, we had him hooked for about 2 seconds.
Those grass lines and beds looked great, never seen so much bait under them too. I could not believe we could not get a gaffer on the troll. We finnally pulled lines in and rode up next to the biggest grass patch we could find, threw out some chunks and wham, Bailers everywhere. They still were very selective and would not take hooked bait very readily. It took us 2 hours to get what we wanted. I had guys that needed meat.

What time did you guys call it?

We started clearing lines at 3 and were running by 3:30...back at the dock at 5:30.

Good fishing with you Eric.
