Left at 5am again from broad creek...headed further north today than Thursday.

White released before half of the big boys had their lines in...trolled further north picking up a few small dolphin off of grass lines but otherwise slow till 1pm when a boat we had run out with called us to a big grass patch to bail with them. While attempting to bail we noticed fish jumping, but by the time we could get closer, they were gone. Back to bailing, nothing doing, so we troll the area a few times just in time to see the fish jumping again...TUNA :bigfish: We had a few 750 spin fishers rigged with plugs for a moment just like this, but they didn't hit and disappeared again...kept trolling and finally picked one up on the long rigger.

He ran once and then came to the boat WAY too fast...we hadn't even cleared all the lines...gaff man wasn't ready...long story short he got off after we had the leader...that hurts.

Same area not 10 minutes later, lines back in and long rigger goes off again, so we assume it's our second chance at that meat. Again before the lines could even get cleared we start noticing that the 50wide is looking rather empty :helpsmilie: 400yds behind the boat a HUGE blue jumps completely out of the water as we're turning the boat around to get some of our line back...he musta landed on the line because as soon as he landed the line went slack and it was cut clean just above the swivel...no chaffing or anything, just a clean break in the main line, but we almost filled the spool back up when we got our line back, so it must have broken right near the leader. Sucked.

Nothing much happenin after that except me learning all kinds of techniques to clear grass off of baits due to the massive amounts of scattered grass out there...seemed like everything between 200ft and 2000ft had scattered grass.

All in all a beautiful day on the water with 2 bills hooked and one leadered, 1 tuna hooked and leadered, but not landed and some bailer dolphin so we didn't go home empty handed.

Also saw 3 huge manta rays, a big ole shark just finning the surface going no where in particular it was my first time seeing tuna actually busting the surface like that, which made me happy :pp
