Does anyone have any thoughts on how much longer the shad run will last on Deer Creek?
Thanks in advance.
Dave Fulton.
This might be the last week for decent hickories action. Americans should go another 2-3 weeks. Although, this cool spring might extend both runs an additional week or two. But you never know for sure with these fish.

I believe you're right .The Hickories left me saturday night in the rivers below there. The ones I caught saturday were spawned out.It was great the last 10 days. The white, yellow perch & small stripers have moved in.They're chasing the Herring & shad fry.

Was just down at Tochterman's today at lunch, and Tony there said he'd heard rumors that the shad in the big gunpowder and deer creek are still going strong. One of the guys who works the flyfishing area of the store apparently is headed out this afternoon to wade Deer Creek this afternoon, and Tony suggested calling in to Tochterman's tomorrow for a report on what he encountered.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is Tochterman's?
Thanks.

No problem, Dave -
Tochterman's is a great local fishing tackle shop in Baltimore that caters to just about any type of fishing, and has in my opinion some of the best customer service I have ever seen. It is on Eastern Ave. in Fells Point. I have heard it is the oldest fishing tackle shop in continuous operation in the same location in the US -- something like 90 years. Since I live and work here, I'll go down there during lunch to pick up flies, lines, leaders, flyrods, etc. and to talk to the people who work the flyfishing area of the shop about what's happening where. The owners (Tony and Dee) are both some of the friendliest, nicest people you'll meet. If you want the number, send me a bmail or look them up in the phonebook. I cant recommend the shop enough.
