I'm going to be at the Jersey Shore for a couple of nights this week, so I just called the Fly Hatch in Shrewsbury to ask if it's worth packing the fly rod for stripers right now. After offering me some nice advice the guy explained that the shop was shutting down for good as we spoke. I guess they couldn't make ends meet, which is too bad. Being from Jersey, I've been to the Fly Hatch and always thought it was a nice outift--as far as I know the only fly-centric shop near the Sandy Hook/Monmouth waters. They held a raffle there a few years back and I won a nice Orvis 9 weight that I still use. Good people. Sucks to see the smaller businessfolk go, especially in this hobby of ours.
