took a trip to West Augusta, just outside Staunton, VA this past weekend and had great success with the brook trout. Using a 5/6 wt. my friends and I waded the river at caught about a dozen fish btw. 5-10". Almost any dry fly was the ticket. I was fishing with a grey/brown dry with a chartruce belly. Anyone had any luck with trout in the VA area?

Love those brookies! This time of year they seem to go on a feeding binge following winter. My experience has been as long as the presentation is good, almost any dry fly pattern will work unless there is a significant hatch coming off. Your approach and presentation must have been right on. If you get back down to that area, check a VA Gazzetteer and follow the bluelines back up into the National Forest most of them have wild brookie populations.
