I was wondering where would be the best place to fish from on a center console boat with two other anglers (not fly fishing). Should I take the spot forward of the console or aft - port or starboard? I know it will be tight from the start, but as a "right hander" I didn't know if anyone has a preference. Thanks.

In my experience I’ve found that when three are fishing from a cc. Moving around is the best way. By that I mean one starting in the bow casting then rotating back as one of the others moves to the bow and so on and so on. But if you most stay in one place allways position the boat so the fly caster is always casting over the bow or stern with his casting arm. Never let your casting arm cast over the center of the boat. With three on board. For what it is worth just my opnion.

What Walt said. Generally, we only have two flyrods out at a time. If there's a third person along, they are chucking plugs.
Anchored in a current line, we've had three or even four in a pinch, but there's not a lot of casting going on in the situation.
On my boat, I use the area behind the leaning post. That way, when I chip the paint off my motor with an errant Clouser, there's nobody to blame but me!

First with three fly fisherman make sure the barbs are mashed down! Then place the boat so that everyone has a shot. If you are casting to schooled fish that isn't an issue however, if you are casting to structure someone is going to have to cast off hand for safety reasons, that is unless your boat is 23 ft or longer. Or if you have very good casters and they cast over the shoulder which isn't likely if they use sink tip lines. There are alot of if's with 3 casters. Just be safe. If the console isn't high than it may not be an issue. Just be flexable and move and take turns.

Two major issues. Can you throw backhand or weak-handed? Are you the one running the boat? I agree with all of what is said above. In my boat I put my guest in the bow and set the boat position so they can cast with the dominant hand on the outside. If there is a 3rd person, they are in the middle with a spinning rod. I take the back and cast backhand (or not if the guy up front is a lefty). Works so far.

Good point. Fortunately, my backcast is stronger than my forward!
Lefty's are good too. MakoMyDay and I can both flyfish the back of the boat on opposite sides!

Thanks for the help. If the conditions don't clear up much, it looks like I might not be doing much fly fishing in the next day or two.
