took a trip up to the mainland today to check out a nautical flea market in the Miramar area and having had my fill of sightseeing out of towners on the road I took a break at The World Wide Sportsman (BPS) in Islamorada for a few libations and to see what was happening, saw several of the flats guides come in with some very respectable Snook and was told by the anglers of good Redfish, Tarpon and a few Permit as well, also saw two boats on the water on the flats just south of Bud and Mary's with tarpon hooked up and tailwalking as I came over the bridge...things are lighting up....

Bob, That's some good news. Will be headed your way May 17-22. Will be staying on Torch Key and fishing tarpon somewhere down there. Maybe see you while there. Jack

when wading down here remember to do the StingRay Shuffle and I don't mean to the rest room after eating at Stingrays,,,warmer water has the rays coming in to the flats and one guy already stepped on one...he was lucky it was only a small one about 18 inches across.but he's still in for a world of pain until it heals...shuffle your feet when wading it spooks the rays out of the way...
