Did anyone notice the reference to 50,000 undersized softcrabs seized in Crisfield by the feds in the "Way Downstream" section of the Bayweekly (bayweekly.com) this issue? Is this old news or just something most of the new media has ignored again?

I believe this took place last summer.

Wow. Regardless of the date, I'm glad they were caught and hopefully fined to the gills. Does anyone know the outcome? I can only imagine how long they have gotten way with it and damage to the crab population.

I didn't pay strict attention to the article at the time - but I believe the crabs were all purchased from Virginia as softcrabs and were legal there. Don't know the final outcome.

Leave it up to Virginia to screw it up for us.

The best thing we can do is publicize these egregious crimes and make sure that they pay for behavior that hurts all Marylanders. Isn't Maryland for Crabs? Thanks for posting Rockrunner.

This not only applies to those distibutors who aquired the crabs where ever they were from it also applies to those who bought the crabs from the distibutors and those patrons of the resturants who paid the rediculous prices for the samwich without complaint of the size of the crab for the price paid. It is a vicious circle and there are may to blame for the loss of Maryland heritage. Just my opinion!
