In the MD 2006-2007 Fishing Guide you may have received with your 2007 license it states on page 26 in the paragraph dealing with RECREATIONAL CRAB FACTS that the legal size for hard crabs from April 1 to December 31 is 5" for the entire season.

This statement is false!!!
The same rules that applied in 2006 are carried over into 2007 regarding size limits.
From April 1, 2007 thru July 14, 2007 the legal size for hard crabs is 5".
From July 15, 2007 thru Dec. 15, 2007 the hard crab legal size changes to 5.25".

If the info in that Guide is wrong, somebody made a BIG mistake!!

I spoke with a NRP today who verified (via the Fisheries Division) the mistake in the brochure. I was told a revised (corrected) copy of the guide was at the printers for future distribution.

As in past years, the DNR web site is behind once more with posting current regs. If you go to the site you will see 2006 regs posted now. I have been told many times in the past, by many different DNR "officials" that the previous years' regs carry over to the new year. If a citation was issued and was challenged in court the outcome would be at the discretion of the Judge.

I know of at least one EXTREMELY contradictory listing of an important reg that has been in question for several years. I have brought it to the attention of several NRP personnel and none of them seem to care enough to have a correction implemented. That's OK with me since I use the contradiction to my advantage. It has nothing to do with crabbing so I will not divulge the contradiction on this forum.
