Here's my next project, a Mystic Sharpie Ketch 32. It's trailerable (5k lbs.), easy to build, draws 15" with the centerboard up and something I can live aboard for periods of time, runnning up and down the Bay. I say it's related to crabbing skiffs because it has a nice history on the Bay. I'm going with a modified V-hull. I also have the study plans for a 27' Sharpie Ketch, same boat but the 32 is much better for staying out awhile.
The top link is the 27 and it has more views. Internal layout of the 32 provides a head/shower and double berth in middle, more storage.

This 32' double-ended sharpie ketch will provide the amateur builder with a shoal-draft cruising boat of simple construction.
LOA - 32' 1"
LWL - 29' 4"
Beam - 8'
Draft (cb up) - 1' 3"
(cb down) - 4' 3"
Displ. - 5,570 lbs.
Sail Area - 470 sq. ft.
Construction: Plywood planking over sawn frames
Lofting is required
Skill level: Intermediate
Plans include 4 sheets.
Study plans are show in Forty Wooden Boats.

You have guts dude! That's a big project. My building skills are limited to Vintage BMX Bikes like this one I just finished. I don't know if you guys rode BMX back in the early
80's but if you didn't, chances are you had a BMX bike or saw ET the movie which featured Kuwahara BMX bikes. I'm building a few topless crab traps this winter to replace the ones I lost this season, does that count as a project?

Dave - THOSE ARE GREAT PROJECTS! I'm really impressed with the bike and unfortunately, BMX came-in too late for me. I'm 52 and was one of the original East Coast motocrossers - ran regularly at Budds Creek and elsewhere. VIVA Montessa! Capra 250. I've never built crab traps and should learn to do that because I sure lose enough of them. Jim

Lone Ranger, I've never heard of that brand but if it's a moto-cross style bike with a bananna seat it's probably from the mid to late 70's. It's worth some money for sure. The cool thing about these bikes is you never know what a collector will pay for it. I've had offers on my bike for $1500 and I've seen others (PK Ripper, Diamond Back, Redline, GT, Torker, JMC and others go for much, much more. What you have is a vintage BMX bike so hold on to it and maybe restore it. I gave my Kuwahara to my 4 yr. old boy who has it hanging in his room by a Kuwahara ET Poster from the 80's. I'll try and find out some info for you. You can check out http://www.vintagebmx.com for some cool pics and forums.
I too am building a boat. Its from a 1967 chris-craft that i am building into a workboat. I would post some pictures but I am not subscribed and not to be rude but I am not subscribing to post a few pictures....maybe this spring when i get it finished.
