The wife & I, and 3 other couples are going to Sandles Negril Jamaica next month and we are all fishing families...anyway, the guys are wondering if there is anywhere to cast from shore down there. We don't want to charter a boat, we were just thinking about taking a rod and some artificials if there was anywhere around our resort to fish from the beach. We also don't want to travel away from the resort. Has any of the Tidal Fish family been there and seen any place to fish?

Ive never been to Jamaica. (i can only share general info about flats fishing/rcaribean) it really is worth it to check into a guide for a day. you can plug them for information to carry you through the rest of the time you are there. The shallow, still, gin-clear water makes it really tough just to get lucky. Fish down there see an artifiicial lure like a brook trout in a shallow pool. If you dont fly fish, you may want to concentrate on snook, jacks, or possibly tarpon. Sometimes, a guide friendly with the resort, will just pick you up by boat at the resort.

I just wanted to share some thoughts. good luck

A few years ago I stayed just up the road at Hedonisim, wet my line a couple times, didn't catch anything[grin].

I agree with fishfool. It would definately be worth your time and money if you get some local knowledge from a guide. I have stayed at a Sandals before and I am quite sure the conceirge will help you out. Have fun!!!!

Was in Jamaica in May. We did alot of snorkeling and really didnt see anything of size. You may want to go with a guide. We took a charter for $450 for a half day and caught some big dolphin and hooked up on a blue one. Real nice down there. hope you have fun.
