Hi Gang,

We recently had some controversy surrounding Lou getting a large Baitmasters order together. Some were concerned that this was a commercial venture for Lou. I did all the diligence on the situation and have spoken with those that have had a concern, Lou himself as well as Baitmasters.

Here is the deal, what Tidal Fish members get out of this is that we save a large amount on shipping given that the order is consolidated. The way that Lou works this is that he takes however many people order and divides it by the shipping cost for the pallet. The shipping costs vary depending weight and on gas prices. There is a minimum cost for the pallet and then it goes by weight. The whole order shipping cost is taken and divided among the number of people. For example if the shipping cost is say $200 and there are 20 people in the order then each person pays $10 for shipping. If there are 10 people then each person pays $20 for shipping. The cost of bait is as its stated on the Baitmasters website.

What Lou gets in return for this is a few cases a year of free bait and free t-shirts and other Baitmaster stuff which he generally gives away to people who ordered bait. This is not a money making thing for Lou, but rather a service for Tidal Fish members which I think is a win-win for everyone.

Lou is going to finish the order for this January and the more people that sign up the better as the cost savings are really great and everyone wins.

I did speak with Baitmasters and next year we are going to work out something where a portion of the sales go to a non-profit fisheries conservation foundation so that we win with a good price on fresh/quality bait, Baitmasters wins with some business, Lou gets a few cases of bait for his efforts over the years of putting this together and the fish win with a few bucks to help them. Next year we will build an online interface on Tidal Fish so people can sign up online, pay online and everyone can see how many others have signed up and instantly see the savings build up as more people join in on the order.

Please post below if you are interested in joining in on the order for this January and Lou will get everything squared away. If you posted before in the orginal thread, please post here again so Lou can make sure he has everyone that is interested.

Here is a summary from the last post of who we have signed up thus far:

Here We Go - 1 case of large mediums

TIE ONE ON - interested

bbogue - 2 cases

I am certainly glad we are back on TF!!!!!!! I spoke to Baitmasters today and they told me that the bait they are processing for the January time frame (our order will be in January) will be BETTER than anything we have had in the past!!!!! Truly unbelievable!!!!! They have just purchased a new conveyor system and an all new blast freezing process is now in place, combined they both significantly reduce the amount of time the bait spends waiting to be frozen!!!!!! Both Mark (the owner) and Ray are very excited about the improvements in quality!!!!! I also talked to the trucking company today and it looks as if the shipping costs have the potential to be lower than they were last year thereby saving us even more money on shipping....of course this is all directly linked to fuel costs but the quote I received today was approximately $280.00 to my door directly from Baitmasters, that works out to about $14.00 per person based on 20 people being involved on whatever/as much as you want!!!!!!!

From the original thread:

Once again it is the middle of September and since our January 2006 Baitmasters order was such a big order I figured I would start the evolution a bit earlier for our January 2007 bait order.

Pretty much most of you all know the process but if you are new to the order please call me at either 757-407-5812 (cell), 757-857-5812 (home) or 757-534-0461 (work) and I will give you all the details. Anyone outside the Tidewater area contemplating ordering make sure you call me so I can put you in touch with other people ordering near you to help minimize your travel costs.

Let’s start out putting the orders down as replies to this thread and I will move them to an Excel spread sheet and make that available for download via the Internet.

Check out Baitmasters website for pricing http://www.baitmasters.com/page2.asp

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, this really works out well for everyone and it is hands down the best bait around!!!!!

And FYI... if anyone has any questions about the MD Baitmasters order.... I get NOTHING, zero, no extra bait, no extra money for this. This is Pro-Bono (so to speak), I do it so I can meet some people and get us all a good discount on quality bait.

OK, I did get a shirt or two, but that was IT ! [wink]

I'll throw up a post in late Dec. or early Jan. with details of our order !

Brandon, Glad that you have cleared the air. It seems that a local tackle shop (I won't mention any names) has a problem with a bunch of us getting an order together since they now carry baitmasters. Many of us have been contacted through this forum by this tackle shop and made aware that they are the local retailer for Baitmasters and we should buy from them and not do our usual order. I personally thought that this was a greedy move and have decided not to shop there for anything in the future.
Pat n Mike , Lookin forward to helpin out with the Md order. We have a trained proffessional on the forklift to unload the bounty. Capt. G

Lou, I will be needing more also but, as usual I'm gonna wait to see how much right at the deadline. I am down to a case now & will be all out buy next weekend or so. I may have to get some more to hold me over till this order ships. I'll let you know 2 weeks before you plan to ship but atleast plan on 4 cases 2med / 2med large.

Hi Capt George,

If you or anyone has been contacted through this board soliciting commerical activity please forward the message to me via email. As you are aware we do not allow this sort of stuff on the boards and we need to crack down because it's all starting to get out of hand.

Thanks

Brandon
