Hi Gang,
We recently had some controversy surrounding Lou getting a large Baitmasters order together. Some were concerned that this was a commercial venture for Lou. I did all the diligence on the situation and have spoken with those that have had a concern, Lou himself as well as Baitmasters.
Here is the deal, what Tidal Fish members get out of this is that we save a large amount on shipping given that the order is consolidated. The way that Lou works this is that he takes however many people order and divides it by the shipping cost for the pallet. The shipping costs vary depending weight and on gas prices. There is a minimum cost for the pallet and then it goes by weight. The whole order shipping cost is taken and divided among the number of people. For example if the shipping cost is say $200 and there are 20 people in the order then each person pays $10 for shipping. If there are 10 people then each person pays $20 for shipping. The cost of bait is as its stated on the Baitmasters website.
What Lou gets in return for this is a few cases a year of free bait and free t-shirts and other Baitmaster stuff which he generally gives away to people who ordered bait. This is not a money making thing for Lou, but rather a service for Tidal Fish members which I think is a win-win for everyone.
Lou is going to finish the order for this January and the more people that sign up the better as the cost savings are really great and everyone wins.
I did speak with Baitmasters and next year we are going to work out something where a portion of the sales go to a non-profit fisheries conservation foundation so that we win with a good price on fresh/quality bait, Baitmasters wins with some business, Lou gets a few cases of bait for his efforts over the years of putting this together and the fish win with a few bucks to help them. Next year we will build an online interface on Tidal Fish so people can sign up online, pay online and everyone can see how many others have signed up and instantly see the savings build up as more people join in on the order.
Please post below if you are interested in joining in on the order for this January and Lou will get everything squared away. If you posted before in the orginal thread, please post here again so Lou can make sure he has everyone that is interested.
Here is a summary from the last post of who we have signed up thus far:
