We reported a first hand fishing report from Richard White, Jr back on January 21, 2011 about a monster striped bass that one of his crew, Cary Wolfe, caught that appeared to break the Virginia Striped Bass State Record. The original story is here. Today the catch was confirmed as the NEW Virginia Striped Bass State Record. Congratulations again Cary, way to go man!!!!
A press resease from today on the confirmation said: A 74-pound striped bass, caught on January 20th by Cary Wolfe of Bristow, VA, has been certified as the new Virginia State Record by the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. Wolfe’s catch surpassed the existing record of 73 pounds, caught nearly four years ago to the day by Fred Barnes of Chesapeake.

Fishing from Maine to New Jersey is increasingly heating up with each passing day. Striped bass are making their way up the coast and we have a report from Maine this week with some hot striper action. New York striper fishing on the flats and bays has been wide open.
